The Road Less Travelled
Using secure video technology I offer counselling/psychotherapy services to people who might otherwise not be able to access it due to their location, physical or time constraints or childcare challenges. Working remotely allows me increased flexibility and it's a convenient and safe way of working.
Many people are concerned video therapy is not as effective as face-to-face. In my experience once we get used to the technology and working remotely, it doesn't have to get in the way of the work. For lots of people it's more comfortable working from the safety of their own home, in their own personal space, with all the convenience of that.
If online therapy is not appealing to you, there are ideas and resources on this website that might help and support you.
GARDEN AS METAPHOR FOR LIFE
The garden is one of our oldest metaphors for life and how to live a good life. We also have our rhythms or seasons, where sometimes we are more outwardly active, like a garden in summer, or quieter where inner work is happening, like in winter.
By attending to you inner garden and working with the seasons of your life, you can become a conscious creator of the kind of life you want. My hope is that you can use some of the resources here to nurture your inner garden and your wellbeing.
A 4 minute reflection on gardening as a metaphor. Unmute to listen.
Just as you might have a vision for your garden, it can also be important to have a vision for your life. By paying attention to the seeds you are sowing, you can influence and shape your life. You don't plant apple seeds and hope to get oranges. So plant what matters to you and weed or prune that which has outlived its usefulness.
Angela Hryniuk extends the gardening metaphor to our relationships and prioritising our self care. Unmute to listen.
Gardeners spend time and energy improving their soil, so that whatever they plant will have a better chance of growing. The same is true of doing inner work. All you can do is create the best possible conditions, plant the right seeds, and care for the saplings as patiently and carefully as you can. You can’t force a plant to grow faster than nature intended and the same is true of us. So trust yourself and nurture that which you want to blossom in your life.
